Bradley Hook, founder of tickgreen
Bradley Hook is a web expert with a passion for the environment. After becoming increasingly alarmed by the threat of climate change he started investigating ways to reduce both his own carbon footprint and the much larger one of the internet. He realised, alarmingly, that web servers are almost always forgotten when organisations decide to reduce or offset their carbon emissions. Brad conceptualised and built the tickgreen system, which was a world-first in 2007, and has received a great response from website owners and the media. He still believes there's a long way to go before the internet is a green tool and is devoted to making it become one.
Brad lives in Sydney, Australia and dedicates his spare time to building innovative web solutions, researching environmental issues and going surfing. He also contributes articles to a range of magazines and speaks at environmental workshops and conferences.

The internet has revolutionised modern communication and provides us with an exceptional tool to do business, keep in touch and exchange information. We believe that if we can make the web a greener place by reducing the carbon every website is responsible for releasing into the atmosphere, then we will truly have a tool that stands us in a great position to tackle the wider issues.
tickgreen is based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney in Australia and provides a service that can be used by anyone who runs a website, anywhere. Would you like to contact us?
Beyond carbon offsetting, tickgreen aims to promote various other ways of reducing our carbon footprints. These can be through simple steps such as switching off your lights and range to full solutions such as harvesting renewable energy. As we grow, we hope to continue developing innovative web technologies that will actively and effectively give us all the power and information we need to tackle global warming and secure a happy, healthy future for humanity and planet earth. We will soon be releasing our tickgreen Checklist book, so check back to get your copy.
